Somantics is a collection of free applications that use touch, camera input and gesture to encourage interaction. Whilst primarily designed for people with ASD, Somantics can be great fun for people of all ages. Somantics is designed with the aim of promoting self awareness, confidence and independence. It can be used as an app on the iPad and children love it simply as a cause and effect app. At Little Angels we initially used it on the iPad and the pupils enjoyed but when Somantics is connected to Kinect it enters a whole new realm of interaction. When used on the iPad there is very limited movement by the user but when used with Kinect we have witnessed children dancing to some of the applications. It is quite magical to watch.
